Our group is one of a number of groups around the UK who carryout and conduct the IAM Roadsmart course for cars. Affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) we hold high standards of road safety and driving within the group.
We operate from Grove Green Community centre in Maidstone and The Barn in Kingston, near Canterbury. Every month we hold the IAM Roadsmart course at both these centres. Each month our lecture and observer team are at hand to bring their skills and first class knowledge of motoring to our associates who embark on the course.
In addition to the monthly course, we have a selection of Observers who are willing to give their time to bring the course to those who can't make the regular monthly courses.
We also hold monthly social meetings for our associates and members with guest speakers to inform and entertain us.
All the teams at the Kent Group of Advanced Motorists are all volunteers who give up their time to assist and encourage Associate Members to prepare for the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Motoring Test.
Our Observers are Advanced Motorists themselves and some have even passed the IAM's Masters exam. Each Observer is qualified through the IAM and undergoes a rigorous training course with Group’s Training Officers and are required to be tested every three to five years to keep to the very high standards that not only our group demands but also to the standards of the IAM.
Any Associate member who passes the IAM Advanced Driving Test is eligible to apply to become an Observer. Acceptance will be dependent on requirements at the time.
